WELCOME to my Family Tree Information Page!

My family tree page is the gateway to all the genealogical information I have compiled over the years, including stories written by my aunts and uncles and pictures I have taken and collected since my early years in the 1940s. My father's family from which I received my surname Guay and my mother's family with the surname or my mother's maiden name Bouffard was only a start. Although it becomes much more complicated than that the further we go back in generations such as my father's mother's maiden name was Jalbert and my mother's mother's maiden name was Ferland and so on. This continues to grow at an exponential rate as you go back in time.

When I started my first research I was with my eldest son Michael in Manchester, New Hampshire and we stopped in at the French Canadian Genealogical Society, which has an extensive library of books from French Canadian Catholic parishes in the United States and Canada. I had no plans to accumulate as much information as  I did and had no intentions of going as far in generations as I did but my curiosity got the better of me.

Starting with my father's name and the help of one of the volunteer staff at the center, I researched marriages and parents from my father's name Albert Guay back ten generations to Gaston Guay who immigrated to Quebec City, Canada, then Nouvelle France, from Montreuil-sous-Bois on the outskirts of Paris, France in the mid 1600s. This took about one hour and it started my research curiosity.

Upon my return to Manchester, Connecticut where I lived I searched out the French Canadian Genealogical Society in Tolland , CT, a thirty minute drive, where I continued my genealogical research into my family's roots. I really need to give a big THANKS to my aunts, uncles and cousins who have given me information about themselves and their families so I could enter the data that was not available in the research books and database such as their children's and grandchildren's birth dates, marriages, etc. There are still gaps in some of the families but I occasionally try to update the genealogical database.

I hope everyone finds this interesting and if they find incorrect, or missing data, let me know with an e-mail to me at:
